World food day
What is World Food Day?
World Food Day celebrated every year. On 16 October in
honor of food, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations first
celebrate it in 1945. So, we celebrate this day to take care of hunger people,
to end the hungriness all over the world.
Importance of food:
Food is essential part of everyone’s lives. It gives us
the energy and nutrients to grow and develop, be healthy and active, to move, work,
play, think and learn. If we don’t eat food how can we become successful. The
body needs a variety of the nutrients.
Why do we shouldn’t waste food:
Wasted food means wasted money, effort, planetary
resources which is never good for everyone. When we don’t eat the food
completely we are throwing away these effort, money, planetary resources along
with it. If we ate food in any restaurant the workers of it throw that in the
dustbin.
What can we do:
Try to keep your remaining food to use it on the next day
or share excess food with your neighbors or we can give the remaining food to a
poor person or the guard sitting outside the restaurant. Cook wisely so that
you don’t end up cooking more than you need. Take only the required amount that
you think you will be able to finish.
A story:
Once I saw a man. He and his family were coming outside
from a restaurant. He has a bag in which the remaining food is left and in it
there is also a cake. His wife and children said that “we eat this cake and
food when we went back home”. Then the man gave that food and cake to the guard
sitting outside. He said “the guard also have a right to eat this good food
because he takes care of us”. In Lahore city of Pakistan a well-known restaurant.
When the people ate the food and left it the workers of the restaurant take it
and gave it to the hungry people.
